Internet Hunt Assignment
Due: Wed., Oct. 2
>
Try to answer as many of the questions as you can on your own. If you
are new to the internet, I suggest you NOT work alone on this. It can
be quite frustrating, let alone intimidating.
You are all welcome
to work with one or two others to complete the following assignment:
- Keep a log of the transactions you made for each of your searches
through the Internet.
- When you find the "treasure" to one of the questions, print a 1-page copy of the item with the answer highlighted in some way.
- In a 1- or 2-page summary, discuss your impressions of what you
thought of the hunt and the information you found on the Internet.
In your write-up, consider answering these questions (in English prose format):
- How long did you spend searching the internet?
- What did you think of the tools (e.g., gopher, web search tools)?
- What was easy to do? What completely baffled you?
- What, if any, benefits do you think that you can gain from using
the Internet or other networks?
- What additional or new capabilities would you want to have in
order to use the Internet or other networks to do things that you
would want to do?
For this part of the assignment, I want your individual
experiences.
That means if two of you are working together, I want both of you to
write your own 2-3 page summary.
When you are ready, here are the questions for the hunt.
Good Luck!
